Mill Trail Property - Conserved 2003

In October 2003, Stowe Land Trust acquired a 31-acre property off Notch Brook Road, contiguous with Bingham Falls. With generous support from an anonymous donor, SLT was able to conserve the beautiful forested property for low impact recreation and wildlife observation. The property contains a large portion of the West Branch of the Little River and protects a part of the watershed.
Now called the Mill Trail, the project took SLT only 3 months to complete. “I am awed and thrilled at the generosity of people in the Stowe community” said Heather M. Furman, Executive Director of the Stowe Land Trust. “Without their continued support, we would never been able to move so quickly to make this project a reality.”
In 2001 Stowe Land Trust worked with several donors to purchase the Bingham Falls property, and subsequently donated the land to the State of Vermont. Bingham Falls is now managed by the Vermont Department of Forests Parks and Recreation jointly with SLT. The Mill Trail property will be managed by SLT through its stewardship committee.
