Create Your Legacy - Make a Planned Gift to Stowe Land Trust

Give a permanent voice to your conservation values

Bequests
One of the most lasting ways to support the work of Stowe Land Trust is through a simple bequest.  A bequest made in a will or living trust is easy and all you need to get started is the desire to support the future of land conservation.

A bequest is an outright gift of money, stock or bonds, land, tangible personal property, or other assets, which is made at the time of your death.  Your attorney will be the principal advisor in preparing your will or living trust, however, here is some suggested wording for a bequest made to Stowe Land Trust.

I give, devise, bequeath to Friends of Stowe Conservation, Inc. d/b/a Stowe Land Trust, a nonprofit charitable organization with offices in Stowe, Vermont, the sum of $ ______________ (or describe any real or personal property), to be used for its general conservation purposes.

In the case of a bequest of land that has conservation value, we urge you to contact us before the will is signed.  This will ensure that your wishes will guide SLT's discussion about the future conservation and disposition of the property.

A bequest made to Stowe Land Trust is deducted from the estate before the federal estate tax is calculated.  However, SLT is not a tax advisor and we encourage you to seek professional tax advice before making decisions about your estate.
