Little River Gets 1000 New Trees

Trees help stablize banks, clean water, and provide important wildlife habitat along our river - a great investment in our future!

On May 3, SLT staff and volunteers helped plant 125 trees and shrubs at Amy & Phil Farley's land that is protected with a river corridor easement held by SLT.

National Life Group volunteers helped plant 550 trees and shrubs along the Little River at DuMont Meadow on May 5th.

The banks of the Little River in Stowe got some loving restoration this spring. Over 80 volunteers from National Life Group, Stowe Middle and High Schools, Arcana Gardens, Trudell Consulting Engineers, and Stowe Land Trust planted 1000 native trees and shrubs on three properties in May. The planting projects were collaborations between landowners, Stowe Land Trust, the Friends of the Winooski River, and the Intervale Conservation Nursery. The trees and shrubs will help stabilize banks, filter water, improve wildlife habitat in and along the river, and restore biodiversity to floodplain areas.
