Identifying and Managing Invasive Plants

Friday, June 23, 2023
PM – 5 PM

Stowe Land Trust Land Stewards, chainsaw volunteers, and Stowe Land Trust Conserved Property Landowners sign up by June 13 to receive a free priority spot. Remaining slots are open to the general public at $20 per person (financial assistance available). Cap of 20 people. Minimum of 8 people for program to run. RSVP required.

Are you interested in learning how to identify invasive plants in the forest and what you can do to remove or control them without using chemicals? Join Mike Bald of “Got Weeds?” for a hands-on workshop that will focus on invasive plant identification and removal tips and include practice with honeysuckle, buckthorn, barberry, multiflora rose, knotweed, or other terrestrial invasive plants found in the Stowe area. Mike will also touch on other invasive plant topics of interest as time allows.

From 1-2 pm, Mike will offer an informal session on field safety preparations. Arrive early or bring a field lunch to participate in this pre-workshop session.

This training is especially recommended for Stowe Land Trust volunteer Land Stewards and others who want to make a difference removing invasive plants. Dress for hands-on practice and bring your own sturdy gloves and eye protection if you have them (note: SLT will have a limited number of gloves and safety glasses onsite for participants).
