Hands-On with Invasives: A Field Workshop at Sunset Rock

Wednesday, July 9, 2025
PM – 4 PM

Join Stowe Land Trust for an informative and interactive outing focused on invasive plant identification and removal, led by Noah Hoffman, Invasive Species Coordinator with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation. This free workshop will offer practical guidance on managing invasive plants on SLT-conserved properties.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to identify common invasive plants in the Stowe area
  • Effective mechanical removal techniques: which tools to use, when, and how

What to Bring:

  • Sturdy hiking footwear
  • Backpack with water, snacks, and weather-appropriate layers
  • Option to bring your own tools if preferred (SLT will provide a limited number of tools, gloves, and eye protection).

We’ll be learning in the field and using Sunset Rock as our classroom, so please come prepared for an active workshop outdoors. Participants should be comfortable hiking 1-2 miles while carrying two tools in addition to their gear, bending, kneeling, and digging in the ground, and managing whatever weather we encounter for the day. We hope to see you there!

RSVP is required; please use the event sign-up form below. A minimum of 5 registrants is needed for the program to run.
