Volunteer Work Party Series #2: Invasive Species Removal

May 16, 2026
9:30 AM - 12 PM

Join us for a morning dedicated to restoring one of our conserved properties by removing harmful invasive species. Common invasive plants, such as barberry, honeysuckle, garlic mustard, and knotweed, can take over forests, meadows, and other habitats, threatening beneficial native plant and wildlife species. These invasives compete for sunlight and nutrients, disrupting healthy ecosystems.

Make a meaningful difference by helping remove invasive species and give back to the land.

Please wear sturdy footwear, bring water, and pack anything else you may need to be comfortable for a morning of hands-on outdoor work. If you have a pair of work gloves you love, bring them along (SLT will also have work gloves available). Dress for the weather of the day and be tick aware: long sleeves and pants or treated clothing can help limit exposure to ticks.

The location for this event is to be determined and will take place either at DuMont Meadow or Shutesville Ledges, depending on the number of attendees and willingness of participants to carpool. A confirmation email with the final location and additional details will be sent prior to the event.

RSVP is required, and the event is capped at 20 participants. Please use the event sign-up form below. This event requires a minimum of 4 attendees to run.

Can’t join us this time? No worries! Stay tuned for upcoming volunteer events and more opportunities to get outside and explore Stowe with us.
