An Announcement from the Board Chair
Dear Supporters and Friends,
I'm writing with news that our Executive Director, Caitrin Maloney, will be leaving Stowe Land Trust to pursue a new professional opportunity. Caitrin will be working to develop a young non-profit in southern Vermont and expanding recreational opportunities in the region. She will remain with SLT through the initial search process for our next Executive Director.
Caitrin has been a dynamo for SLT during her 4-year tenure as Executive Director. Her vision, initiative, and drive have moved SLT further along its trajectory of a gold standard reputation. We will miss Caitrin, but at the same time we are happy for the opportunities that her new endeavor will provide her.
Leadership transitions, while difficult, are also a time of tremendous opportunity. As our Board of Directors engages in a search for a new Executive Director, we are guided by our mission to protect Stowe's most critical natural landscapes and steward the existing properties in our portfolio. As we move into this period of transition, I want to share with you my thoughts and reflections on where SLT stands today.
Our organization is strong. SLT is on solid footing. Our financial house is in order, our diverse board of community members is engaged, and because of you, our loyal supporters, we have an exemplary reputation. SLT is composed of exceptional people at all levels, who are eager to embrace the opportunities that this change presents.
Our work continues. We are grateful that Conservation Program Manager Kristen Sharpless and Operations Manager Metzi Anderson will provide valuable support during the transition period, and we recognize that many of you are familiar with their many talents. Together with the Board and staff, we will carry on with the important work of SLT during this transition.
Our future is bright. SLT will continue to build upon the achievements of our 30+ years of work in the community. In the years ahead, SLT will protect many more places that we value for recreation, agriculture and wildlife habitat. Our new Executive Director will carry out the mission of leading SLT into this next critical era of conservation work.
