Hands-On with Invasives: A Field Workshop at DuMont Meadow

  • Thursday, June 11, 2026
    PM – 4 PM

Events

Join Stowe Land Trust for an informative and interactive outing focused on invasive plant identification and removal, led by Noah Hoffman, Invasive Species Coordinator with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to identify common invasive plants in the Stowe area
  • Effective removal techniques: which tools to use, when, and how

What to Bring:

  • Sturdy hiking footwear
  • Backpack with water, snacks, and weather-appropriate layers
  • Option to bring your own tools if preferred (SLT will provide a limited number of tools, gloves, and eye protection).

We’ll be learning in the field and using DuMont Meadow as our classroom, so please come prepared for an active workshop outdoors. Participants should be comfortable hiking 1-1.5 miles while carrying tools. We hope to see you there!

The DuMont Meadow trailhead area can only accommodate 4-5 cars. To limit the number of cars onsite, staff are asking all participants to meet at the nearby Moscow Rec Field before 2 pm, so that we can carpool to the DuMont Meadow trailhead.

This event requires a minimum of 4 participants to run.

We have a rain date of June 25 from 2-4:00 PM and will reach out if the event is postponed.
