Stowe Land Trust is celebrating 29 years of community-based land conservation on Sunday, September 25th from 1:00 - 4:30 pm. The event is taking place on the newly conserved Hunnewell Meadow located at the corner of Weeks Hill Road and Mayo Farm Road in Stowe.

The afternoon will begin with a pie & ice cream social featuring Stowe-made ice cream generously provided by I.C. Scoops. The land trust will then move into the business meeting portion of the schedule, electing new directors, honoring volunteers and those stepping off the board, and sharing a brief financial presentation. Afterward, folks have the chance to enjoy several outings in and around Hunnewell Meadow and Mayo Farm.

When asked about the location and spirit of the event, Executive Director, Caitrin Maloney, said:  “We are so excited to be celebrating our 29th year with this family-friendly event.  We could not do this work without the enthusiasm and involvement of the community, and we hope to bring everyone together in that spirit for an informative, fun experience.  I can’t think of a better spot to host this year’s event than the newly conserved Hunnewell Meadow.”

Be sure to bring your family along for the afternoon. There will be a children's program (ages 5+) during the business portion of the event, and then family-friendly outings for everyone. Outings range from a nature exploration walk with SLT’s summer naturalist, Brenna Toman; a farm tour with local farmer Ryan Percy; an educational walk along the banks of the West Branch with SLT Executive Director, Caitrin Maloney; and two bike tours (please bring your own bike and gear).

The celebration will be held under a tent and the outings are all outdoors, so please dress accordingly.

This event is free and open to the public. You must be a member to vote during the business meeting. For more information or to RSVP, please call 802.253.7221 or visit www.stowelandtrust.org.
