Snowshoeing

Just because there is snow on the ground doesn't mean you can't take to the trails! Many of our local trail networks make excellent snowshoeing destinations during the winter months. Wearing properly sized snowshoes prevents postholing through snow—keeping your feet dry and the snowpack in good condition. When snowshoeing remember to stay hydrated; consider using trekking poles to maintain your balance; and avoid crossing ski tracks. Want to give snowshoeing a try but don't have your own? Several local libraries offer rental snowshoes to patrons.
