Join Stowe Land Trust for a walk and talk about forest management, led by County Forester Emily Sayers and Acceptable Management Practices (AMP) Forester Rick Dyer from the VT Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation.
This free workshop will offer information about Adams Camp, an area where prescribed forest management activities have recently been implemented following the property’s forest management plan.
What you'll learn:
- Forest management strategies that were employed here while viewing the results on the ground
- Silviculture (the art and science of managing forests)
- Operational techniques for protecting water quality
- Expectations for forest road close-out following forest management operations
What you'll need:
- Sturdy hiking footwear
- Any water and snacks you need for a two-hour walk
- Weather-appropriate layers
We’ll be learning in the field and using Adams Camp as our classroom, so please come prepared for an active walk outdoors. Participants should be comfortable hiking ~2 miles. We hope to see you there!
We have a rain date of July 16 from 3-5:00 PM and will reach out if the event is postponed.
